USA Grand Finals

Join us virtually as we celebrate student accomplishments in the 2021-22 Engineering for People Design Challenge USA Grand Finals!

The Engineering for People Design Challenge, run in partnership with Engineers Without Borders South Africa, and UK, encourages university students to broaden their awareness of the social, environmental, and economic impact of engineering. Taught through project-based learning, the initiative embeds a globally responsible awareness during a pivotal moment in student's careers. Since launching in 2011, over 60,000 students have participated from institutions in Cameroon, South Africa, UK, Ireland, and the US.

This year, the challenge was set in the most northern peninsula of Australia, Cape York. Throughout the year, students worked in teams to investigate the challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and design a solution to meet their needs.

The top teams from each university submitted their designs to a pool of international reviewers. Those who have most effectively considered the social, environmental and economic impacts of their design, are then invited to present their ideas to an expert panel of judges and are recognized for their efforts during a national Grand Finals event.

On the Day

During the US Grand Finals event, participating students, academics, industry professionals, and Engineers Without Borders UK will come together to celebrate top student teams and the future of globally responsible engineering.

You will have received an email invitation if you are a participant in the competition. We would welcome you to extend this to your friends and family.
